Winter's Bone

Winter's Bone

Winter's Bone is a crime drama.

Ree Dolly is 17 years old, and her father has disappeared without a trace. Before his disappearance, he bailed on their house, and now the hour of reckoning is fast approaching.

Afraid of losing the house where she takes care of her younger siblings and a mentally unstable mother, the young woman must go out and look for her father.

It brings her to the edge of the dark side of daily life in the wilderness of the Ozarks, where the mighty mountains and forests have left their mark on the people of a closed, isolated community.

Not least, some of Ree's relatives turn out to possess a piece of the key to the mystery. Ree is thrown into a deadly game where lies cover a hidden truth and a sinister secret.

Winter's Bone won the main prize at the Sundance festival and is nominated for 4 Oscars: Best Picture, Best Actress (Jennifer Lawrence), Best Supporting Actor (John Hawkes), and Best Screenplay.
