Alan Ladd biography


Alan Ladd, 1913-1964, American actor.

Ladd gained star status as a taciturn, harsh-romantic loner in 1940s crime films with breakthroughs in This Gun For Hire (1942) and The Glass Key (1942).

He made a brief comeback in the prestigious western Shane (1953). Ladd ended his career with an almost autobiographical role in The Carpetbaggers (1964).
