Actor John Travolta

John Travolta biography

John Travolta was born February 18, 1954, in Englewood, New Jersey, USA.

It is rare that an actor 10 years after his prime experiences an even greater one. Among the few is John Travolta, who was first a TV star in the 70s, disco king in 'Saturday Night Fever (1977), and singing star with 'Grease' (1978). At the beginning of the 80s, however, his popularity seemed to have ebbed, and 'Staying Alive' (1983), directed by Stallone, was a last desperate attempt to restore the dancer's image. It failed, and Travolta was out in the cold for a long time despite a minor comeback with 'Look Who's Talking (1989).

In 1994, he suddenly appeared in 'Pulp Fiction' as an overweight parody of himself. The role of Vincent Vega demonstrated that his talent was intact despite almost 13 years of commercial decline. In 'Get Shorty' (1995), he was again to be found in his usual role as a relaxed and laid-back guy, and his career has primarily achieved the same status as in the 70s.

He has since had significant roles in, for example, John Woo's Broken Arrow (1996) and Face/Off (1997), Primary Colors (1998, The Presidential Candidate), Ladder 49 (2004), and Hairspray (2007).
