Arnold Schwarzenegger biography

Arnold Schwarzenegger was born July 30, 1947, Austrian-American politician, film actor, and former bodybuilder; Governor of California 2003.

With five titles, as Mr. Universe and seven as Mr. Olympia founded his fame as a bodybuilder.

It brought him to the United States, where he landed an early film role in Hercules in New York (1970) under the name Arnold Strong and played himself in Pumping Iron (1977).

The attention he thereby created for bodybuilding as a new training system he also used to promote his own health institute in California, World Gym, which became a role model.

Arnold Schwarzenegger made his international film breakthrough in Conan the Barbarian (1982), establishing his role as a muscled hero. This image was further confirmed in The Terminator (1984), Predator (1987), Total Recall (1990), and Last Action Hero (1993).

In the latter film, he also showed a self-deprecating talent, first seen in Kindergarten Cop (1990) and later in the comedy Junior (1994). After a series of less successful films, he made a minor comeback in 2003 with Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines.

Arnold Schwarzenegger was the 2003-11 Governor of California for the Republican Party. He led a politically moderate course but was hampered by the state's massive debt, which he failed to bring under control. It caused a stir that he took several steps toward national climate legislation as a contrast to the general trend within his party.
