American actress, singer, and director. After her breakthrough in the Broadway musical I Can Get It for You Wholesale (1962), Barbra Streisand had a meteoric career.

She starred as Fanny Brice in the Broadway musical Funny Girl (1963-64) and won a Grammy for the lead song People. She won an Oscar for her film debut in 1968 in the same role and subsequently had film roles in, among others, the musical Hello Dolly (1969), the comedies The Owl and the Pussycat (1970), and What's Up Doc? (1972) as well as in the love story The Way We Were (1973). She influenced the remake of A Star Is Born (1976) and won an Oscar for the theme Evergreen.

She topped the charts with duets such as You Don't Bring Me Flowers (1978) with Neil Diamond and No More Tears (Enough Is Enough) (1979) with Donna Summer, as well as the solo ballad Woman In Love (1980).

With humor and insight into her Jewish background, Barbra Streisand made her directorial debut with Yentl (1983); since then, she has directed the more conventional and self-cultivating The Prince of Tides (1991) and The Mirror Has Two Faces (1996).
