Bette Davis biography

Bette Davis was born on April 5, 1908, an American actress. Bette Davis was among Hollywood's leading female stars in the 1930s and 1940s.

Bette Davis showed her distinctive character in hard-boiled roles, where her protruding eyes and mocking smile. Ice-cold line treatment made her famous as an alternative to the glamor women of the time, for example, in Of Human Bondage (1934), Dangerous (1935), and The Little Foxes (1941).

Drawing parallels to her dangerous position, she gave one of her best performances as the aging theater star threatened by a new talent in All About Eve (1950).

With What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? (1962), Bette Davis began a comeback in a series of outlandish horror roles.

Her last film, however, was the wistful sister portrait The Whales of August (1987), in which she co-starred with Lillian Gish.

In 1977, Bette Davis was the first woman to receive the American Film Institute's Lifetime Achievement Award.
