Bill Murray biography
Bill Murray (William James Murray) was born September 21, 1950, in Wilmette, Illinois, USA.
He broke through as a stand-up comedian in Saturday Night Live (1977-80) and, with his understated comedy, has been successful in film comedies such as Meatballs (1979), Tootsie (1982), and Ghostbusters (1984) as well as in Quick Change (1990), which he also directed.
In The Razor's Edge (1984), Groundhog Day (1993), and Ed Wood (1994), he had more character-driven roles, and in Sofia Coppola's Lost in Translation (2003) and Jim Jarmusch's Broken Flowers (2005).
He refined his measured acting with implied sensitivity that harks back to silent film stars like Buster Keaton.
In 2014, Bill Murray was seen in the role of M. Ivan in Wes Anderson's (b. 1.5.1969) comedy-drama The Grand Budapest Hotel.
