Billy Bob Thornton (William Robert Thornton) was born on August 4, 1955, an American film actor, screenwriter, and director. Billy Bob Thornton was a singer and musician before he started making movies.
He made a name for himself in the thriller One False Move (1991), which he also wrote, and the psychological drama Sling Blade (1996), which he both wrote and directed for the Academy Award.
He has since become a more established name in Hollywood. He has, among other things, had roles in films as diverse as Oliver Stone's U Turn (1997), the large-scale space drama Armageddon (1998), A Simple Plan (1998), Joel and Ethan Coen's The Man Who Wasn't There (2001), Monster's Ball (2001), Bad Santa (2003) and The Informers (2008).
As a musician, Billy Bob Thornton released the country blues albums Private Radio (2001), The Edge of the World (2003), and Hobo (2005).
