Boris Karloff biography


Boris Karloff (William Henry Pratt) was born November 23, 1887, in Camberwell, London, UK.

British actor. Boris Karloff starred in more than 140 films, most of them American and in the horror genre, such as James Whale's Frankenstein (1931), which made the tall, darkly melancholic actor a cult figure.

Besides the Frankenstein monster, Boris Karloff created famous characters in The Mummy (1934) and Mr. Wong (1938-40).

His career and status as a star were dramatically exploited by Peter Bogdanovich in Targets (1968), in which Karloff plays a failed horror movie star.

In addition to the films, Boris Karloff was known for his readings to children on the BBC.
