Charlton Heston biography


Charlton Heston was born on October 4, 1924.

American actor. Heston has primarily been synonymous with heroic figures in epics such as The Ten Commandments (1956) and the title role in Ben Hur (1959), as well as in disaster films such as Earthquake (1974).

Among his more personal efforts are Major Dundee (1965), The War Lord (1965), and Will Penny (1967). From the mid-1980s, Heston mostly appeared in TV movies, also as a director.

He has also been involved in administrative work in the film industry, i.a., as president of The American Film Institute. Heston was an ardent supporter of the right to bear arms, and from 1998-2003 he was president of the National Rifle Association's gun lobby.
