Biography of Christopher Reeve

Christopher Reeve was born on September 25, 1952.

Christopher Reeve's breakthrough role as Superman (1978) starred in its three sequels (1980, 1983, 1985). Christopher Reeve also had serious parts, e.g., Deathtrap (1982) and The Remains of the Day (1993).

He was a skilled pilot and twice crossed the Atlantic solo. On May 27, 1995, Reeve was paralyzed in the neck after a riding accident.

Despite this disability, he played individual roles on TV, e.g., in the remake of Alfred Hitchcock's Rear Window (1998), in which a broken leg from the original version with James Stewart was converted to Reeve's authentic physical constitution to considerable effect. He also directed a few films.

Christopher Reeve was married twice and left a couple of children from his first marriage. He has no burial place, his ashes being scattered instead.
