Emiliano Sala biography
The Argentinian footballer Emiliano Sala was born in Cululu las Colonias on October 31, 1990.
He played for French Nantes and, on January 19, 2019, was sold from Nantes to Welsh club Cardiff for 15 million pounds. He had signed a three-year deal with Cardiff, but he never got to make his debut.
After saying goodbye to his French colleagues, Emiliano Salo and pilot David Ibbotson boarded a flight bound for Wales on January 21. According to his father, Emiliano Sala sent worrying messages to his family from the plane:
"I'm on a plane that looks like it's about to fall apart," and "I'm so scared," read parts of the messages.
That same evening, the plane disappeared from the authorities' radar at approximately 20 km from the Channel Island of Guernsey.
Emiliano Sala's body was recovered and identified on February 7. He was 28 years old.
The body of 59-year-old pilot David Ibbotson has never been found.
