Biography of Willem Dafoe


Willem Dafoe (William Dafoe) was born in 1955. Willem Dafoe had his first significant role in Platoon (1986) and rose to stardom, starring in The Last Temptation of Christ (1988) and as the FBI agent in Mississippi Burning (1988).

He is also remembered for The English Patient (1996) and Wild at Heart (1990), where he honed his talent to fill ambiguous and sometimes diabolical supporting roles in the latter.

He continued this character type as the vampire Max Schreck in Shadow of the Vampire (2000), mad scientist in Spider-Man (2002), and gangster father in Lars von Trier's Manderlay (2005).

Willem Dafoe has also participated in, among other things, Inside Man (2006) and Lars von Trier's Antichrist (2009).
