Biography of William Hurt


William Hurt (William McChord Hurt) was born March 20, 1950, in Washington, D.C., USA.

He was an American actor. He is best known for his role in Kiss of the Spider Woman (1985), which won him an Oscar.

After a versatile theater career in the 1970s, William Hurt became a new type in cinema in the 1980s, specializing in interpreting inner, complex tensions behind an almost anonymous exterior, especially in collaboration with the director Lawrence Kasdan in Body Heat (1981), The Big Chill (1983) and The Accidental Tourist (1988).

Among his other films are Broadcast News (1987), Smoke (1995), A History of Violence (2005), and Vantage Point (2008).

Died March 13, 2022, in Portland, Oregon, USA.
