Brian Dennehy was born July 9, 1938, in Connecticut, USA.
He was an American actor who made his breakthrough in the film industry in 1982 when he played the role of Sheriff Will Teasle in First Blood.
Dennehy made his film debut in 1977 in Looking for Mr. Goodbar and, in addition to First Blood, has had central roles in films such as Cocoon (1985), Legal Eagles (1986), Silverado (1985), and Best Seller (1987), as well as the role of Ted Montague in the modern version of Romeo and Juliet in the film Romeo + Julie (1995), starring Leonardo DiCaprio.
He made his TV debut in 1977 with a guest appearance in the crime series Kojak and has also guest starred in series such as M*A*S*H (1977), Dollars (1981), and The Fighting Fitzgeralds (2001). Dennehy has also appeared in several TV movies, including It Happened at Lakewood Manor (Ants) (1977), A Real American Hero (1978), The Jericho Mile (1979), and The Lion of Africa (1987).
From 1992 to 1997, he succeeded with a series of TV movies about the detective Jack Reed, in which he played the leading role. In 2005, he had a central role in the remake of Assault on Precinct 13 and starred in Righteous Kill in 2008.
Dennehy was parodied in South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut (1999) and in an episode of The Simpsons.
