Frances McDormand (Frances Louise McDormand) was born June 23, 1957; she is an American actress; who married Joel Coen.
Frances McDormand has been a supporting force in several of her husband's and Ethan Coen's films, including their debut film, the film noir thriller Blood Simple (1984), the crime comedy Fargo (1996), in which she won an Oscar for her role as a pregnant Swedish-born police chief who quietly solves all the world's problems, and Burn After Reading (2008).
Frances McDormand's other films include the Southern drama Mississippi Burning (1988), Wonder Boys (2000), and This Must Be The Place (2011).
