George Michael was self-taught in the industry and had no formal education beyond primary school. In childhood, he played the violin for 7 years, and later, he learned to play the piano, guitar, and bass. Along with childhood friend David Austin, George played music in the London Underground after school to earn a little bit of money.
Among other things, George Michael found musical inspiration in old Motown and soul records and in legendary British artists such as the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Queen, and Elton John.
He managed to give 8 concerts in Denmark; these took place in a sold-out Parken for 49,000 people on Saturday, 11 November 2006, and at an equally sold-out NRGi Park in Aarhus for 64,000 people over two days, on 18 May and 19 May 2007 and 30 August 2008 in the Park. He played 3 concerts in Jyske Bank Boxen in Herning on 29 August, 31 August, and 2 September 2011, and 1 show in Forum Copenhagen in Copenhagen on 3 September 2011. Part of his famous "Faith" album was recorded in the Puk Studios in Randers in 1987.
George Michael was a daily resident of Highgate in London with his partner since 1996, the American-born gallery owner Kenny Goss (born 1958). The singer was notorious for being a very private and media-shy person who, for extended periods, insisted on staying entirely out of the limelight. This relationship is partly because Michael spent much of his adult life struggling with anxiety and depression.
