John Grisham biography

John Grisham was born in 1955, an American lawyer and author.

After debuting in 1989 with the courtroom drama A Time to Kill (1995), he established his name on the suspense novel market with The Firm (1991), The Pelican Brief (1992), and The Client (1993).

The action-packed bestsellers all focus on the struggle of ordinary people against a complicated and opaque American justice system, best in The Chamber (1994), which also debates the subject of the death penalty. All the novels have been made into films; the most successful was Sydney Pollack's The Firm (1993).

The Last Juror (2004) is a story of social indignation over the state of the law in the 1970s in the southeastern part of the United States, which has never fully recovered from the defeat in the American Civil War back in the middle of the 1800s.

Since then, several bestsellers from the hand of John Grisham have followed almost every year, most recently The Racketeer (2012), which again takes place in a trial environment.
