Julianne Moore (Julie Anne Smith) was born on December 3, 1960.

Julianne Moore starred in TV soap operas and several TV movies before she made her mark as a character actor with film roles in, among others, Robert Altman's Short Cuts (1993), Vanya on 42nd Street (1994), the Coen brothers' The Big Lebowski (1998), Paul Thomas Anderson's Magnolia (1999), Hannibal (2001) and The Shipping News ( 2001).

Julianne Moore was awarded several times for her performances in Far From Heaven (2002) and Stephen Daldry's The Hours (2002) and has since also shone in, for example, A Single Man (2009) and The Kids Are Alright ( 2010). For the role of Alice in Still Alice (2014) about a language professor who gets Alzheimer's, Julianne Moore was awarded an Oscar in 2015.

On TV, she has played in, among other things, the series 30 Rock 2009-10.
