Kevin Kline biography


Kevin Kline (Kevin Delaney Kline) was an American actor born on November 24, 1947.

Alongside his theater career on Broadway, also as a director, since his breakthrough in Alan J. Pakula's Sophie's Choice (1982), based on William Styron's novel, Kevin Kline has portrayed the average American in humorous everyday crises, for example, in Lawrence Kasdan's generation portrait The Big Chill (1983), the same director's Grand Canyon (1991) and Ang Lee's The Ice Storm (1997).

Kevin Kline has also played in, e.g., Lawrence Kasdan's western pastiche Silverado (1985) and showed more pronounced comedy talent in very diverse roles, e.g. ), In & Out (1997) and Wild Wild West (1999).

He portrayed Cole Porter in De-Lovely (2004) and has, among other things, transferred his theater experience to the film adaptation of William Shakespeare's A Midsummer's Night Dream (1999) and As You Like It (2006), the latter directed by Kenneth Branagh.
