Morgan Freeman biography


Morgan Freeman (Morgan Porterfield Freeman Jr.) was born on June 1, 1937.

After a career as, among other things, Air Force aircraft mechanic, Morgan Freeman made his Broadway debut in 1968 and became known for his appearance on the American educational television program The Electric Company (1971-76).

In 1987, he had a breakthrough with the film Street Smart. He has since shown integrity and credibility in, among other things, Bruce Beresford's Oscar-winning Driving Miss Daisy (1989), Glory (1989), Robin Hood - Prince of Thieves (1991), the prison drama The Shawshank Redemption (1994), David Fincher's horror Se7en (1995), Steven Spielberg's Amistad (1997) and Dane Mikael Salomon's Hard Rain (1998).

After the turn of the millennium, Morgan Freeman's achievements have continued with an Oscar-winning supporting role in Clint Eastwood's Million Dollar Baby (2004) and secure participation in Christopher Nolan's Batman Begins (2005) and The Dark Knight (2008) as well as Clint Eastwood's Invictus (2009), in which Morgan Freeman portrayed Nelson Mandela.
