Robert Mitchum was born on August 6, 1917, in Bridgeport, USA.

Robert Mitchum was an American actor. Mitchum maintained stardom in American cinema for more than half a century.

He established his name as a hard-boiled type of psychopath in films such as The Story of G.I. Joe (1945), The Night of the Hunter (1955), and Cape Fear (1962).

Later he got character roles with human weight and a touch of irony, for example, in Farewell, My Lovely (1975) and Maria's Lovers (1985); on television, he was a driven veteran in the series The Winds of War (1983), North and South (1985) and War and Remembrance (1988).

Died July 1, 1997, in Santa Barbara, USA.
