Tony Curtis biography


Tony Curtis (Bernard Schwartz) was born on June 3, 1925.

He was an American actor. After several roles as a smooth romantic hero, Tony Curtis developed a sure talent for comedy, i.a., in Operation Petticoat (1959) and Billy Wilder's Some Like It Hot (1959).

He also had more severe roles in Sweet Smell of Success (1957) and The Boston Strangler (1968), and on television, he found success as the newly rich American upstart in the British series The Persuaders (1971-1972).

Tony Curtis starred in the Danish film Walter and Carlo in America (1989). He is the father of actor Jamie Lee Curtis.

Died on September 29, 2010.
