Actor Bob Hope

Bob Hope biography

Bob Hope (Leslie Townes Hope) was born May 29, 1903.

He was a British-born American actor and entertainer. Bob Hope made his film debut in 1938 after a few years of theater work and had his breakthrough with The Cat and the Canary (1939).

Bob Hope became an audience favorite with the seven so-called Road films (1940-62), recorded with Bing Crosby and Dorothy Lamour (1914-96). His witty film characters are girly and intelligent, full of sharp lines, but eternal cowards.

His career culminated in The Paleface (1948); since then, his films have worsened. He maintained his popularity through frequent appearances on television and, for example, as a conference speaker at, among other things, The Oscars.

Bob Hope's commitment to humanitarian and professional work earned him five special Oscars and the US President's Medal of Freedom.
