Kristin Kreuk biography
Kristin Kreuk was born on December 30, 1982, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Kristin led a regular life before stardom, the laid-back daughter of a Dutch father and Chinese mother, both of whom are landscape architects.
Kristin enjoyed the acting classes but was not serious about the subject. That is until a casting director faxed her high school a casting call for the CBC series Edgemont. Kreuk came in and "lucked out," as she says; suddenly, she was a TV actress. Since Edgemont is set in Vancouver, she lived in her parent's house when her star rose.
Her character, Laurel Yeung, is a beautiful girl from the outskirts of the city, and she is one of the favorites in the Canadian semi-melodrama, which can also be seen on the FOX Family Channel. Undeterred by the pressures of success and hard work, Kreuk auditioned for another Vancouver-based TV show: the WB series Smallville, which focuses on the young life of the comic book hero Superman and his alter ego Clark Kent.
Kreuk was cast as Lana Lang, the popular cheerleader who predates Superman's longtime love, Lois Lane. Since taking on another hit show, Kristin has done nothing but flex her unwavering acting muscle. Shooting two shows simultaneously has left Kristin little time to pursue other projects.
She has postponed plans to study psychology and forensics at Simon Fraser University in British Columbia. She played the title role in a made-for-TV version of Snow White.
She became a spokesperson for Neutrogena skin care products, following in the footsteps of fellow hotties Jennifer Love Hewitt and Mandy Moore. Although she loves Vancouver enough to never move to Hollywood and claims she is unsure whether or not she will continue acting, she can be sure that her talent and looks will land her more roles in the future.
