Charlie Kaufman biography

Charlie Kaufman was born an American film scriptwriter on November 19, 1958.

After writing scripts for TV sitcoms for several years, Charlie Kaufman broke through with the highly original comedy Being John Malkovich (1999), directed by Spike Jonze, about a puppeteer's surprising journey into the head of the actor John Malkovich.

Later came the complex Adaptation (2002), which is at once a film adaptation and a meta-film, dealing with Kaufman's own problems in writing a sequel to Being John Malkovich.

He was awarded an Oscar for the humorous and existentialist love story Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004).
